GRP All Stars?

I've heard a lot about the GRP All Stars group, can anyone provide some info about them? (Recordings, video, etc..)

Hi,

I don't know about the GRP All Star, it's the big band with Weckl, Patitucci, Kenny Kirkland (rip) ?

Anyway, me I'm still crazy about the GRP Super Live In Concert, cd 1 with Vinnie, it's "oh my God !!!"

- The Sauce
- Target
- Love Dance
- Early A.M. Attitude
- Earth Run...

I heard that there is video tape about this event, hey Randy tell me something about it please !!!

I'm really a big fan on what done Vinnie during middle-end of the 80's and his sound...
Yamaha Drums ?
I don't know, just Vinnie 's drumming !!!

That's the GRP Super Band/Electrik Band Live, see link below. I've got the VHS and the LP version. On the last tune of the video (tune not on the CD/LP) in 6/8 then switches to 4/4, Dave and Vinnie are both playing and start soloing trading fours. The overall production is so, so. Too much camera movement IMO, you definitely don't see enough of Dave nor Vinnie. Especially Vinnie in the last portion of the last track, he is doing this crazy bass-drum/toms fill and the camera is on the band!! [img]mad.gif[/img] I remember being real angry about it back then... But if you're not a drummer, you wouldn't notice it anyway right?

But Vinnie's supporting role with Diane Schuure and Grusin's band is awesome!

there are three GRP all-star big band cd's.....fantastic band with superb drumming from weckl. i just love those cd's. i sometimes see a dvd of the live gig pop up on ebay....

The elektric Band CD on that is great stuff, and Vinnie's playing with Diane Shur is tasty as hell.

I don't know how many times I've listened to it. Diane Schurr is fantastic. Hmm, I was always under the impression that Carlos Vega was also part of it, but apparently not.

I don't know why they released it under Lee Ritenour only. I've seen the show and it was really announced as the GRP All-Star tour. A young killin' Novak on this along with a groovy Abe.

.. about this Lee Ritenour dvd.. I have it on VHS, recorded from Tv and the title was GRP Allstars.. Then they changed it to Ritenour..

I have an old GRP video with Dave Gruisin, Abe Laroiel, Lee Ritenour, Carlos Vega & Diane Schur.

As I remember, haven't seen it in a while, the tunes sound really kinda-whitebread-milk toast- only play on the white keys-sort of middle of the road-kinda-pop-80s-ish fusion, but, Carlos's Gretsch drums sound ridiculously butt-ah

Carlos play shis arse off on that. BTW, those GRP at the Record Plant are on DVD. The only one not to see DVD as of yet is the GRP allstar concert.
